On May 12 and 13, Crozer Health hosted "Suture Labs" for Medical Careers students with Delaware County Technical Schools (DCTS) at the Chief Robert Reeder Multidisciplinary Simulation and Education Center located at Crozer-Chester Medical Center. The Chief Robert Reeder Multidisciplinary Simulation and Education Center is a hospital-based simulation center that provides healthcare professionals and students with hands-on clinical education, training, and simulation.

The two-hour "suture labs" were organized by Rosemary Barakat, Medical Careers Instructor at DCTS and Robert “Bubba” Hamilton, Simulation Manager at Crozer Health. The Crozer Health educators included:

  • Dr. Josh Pathman – Chief Resident, Emergency Medicine
  • Dr. Sirivan Seng – Resident, Surgery
  • Dr. Daniel Kim – Resident, Surgery
  • Dr. Oluwadara Okorafor – Resident, Surgery
  • Dr. Marc Olshan – Attending Physician, Emergency Medicine

“The students were very excited to be at the Simulation Center and we were honored to host them,” Hamilton said. “It’s always rewarding to help train the next generation of healthcare professionals, and we wish them the best in their careers.”

Dr. Pathman gave the students a brief lecture on suturing followed by a suturing demonstration. The students then had the opportunity to practice suturing in the simulation setting and ask career-based questions.

“Your dedication to your profession is evident,” Barakat said. “The students so appreciated Crozer Health for your kindness and for taking an active interest in their future. Thank you for your time and your talent.”
