Methadone is a synthetic, long-acting opioid that is prescribed to assist people who have an opiate dependence. In addition to treating the physical symptoms associated with opiate withdrawal, we offer treatment for the emotional and behavioral symptoms of substance dependence as well.

At the Crozer Health Methadone Treatment Program, you will receive group and individual counseling to help support you with building a new life for yourself. All of our services are provided on an outpatient basis, so that you can meet your work and family commitments while you go through this process of recovery.

All treatment programs include

  • Individual and group psychotherapy
  • Priority treatment for special populations, including pregnant women, women with children, people with co-occurring disorders, intravenous (IV) drug users and persons who have experienced a recent overdose
  • Specialized groups for pregnant women that includes education, support, treatment and ongoing referral with the Crozer Health Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome (NAS) Unit
  • Case management services to help connect you to valuable services in the community
  • Medication management with our onsite psychiatrists
  • Acupuncture for specialized populations
  • Childcare services are available for children ages six weeks through six years while you are receiving treatment

The Methadone Treatment Program uses evidence-based models, including motivational interviewing, enhanced illness management and recovery (E-IMR), and trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
