Crozer Health Graduates its First EMT Training Class

Excitement was in the air as Crozer Health celebrated the graduation of its first Emergency Medical Technician training class on Tuesday, December 14.  For 10 weeks this fall, the students underwent intensive skills and classroom training on their path to become EMTs. The class was sponsored by Keystone Quality Transport (KQT).

During the ceremony held at the Robert Reeder Simulation Center at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where the training took place, students received individual awards from their instructors and certificates of course completion. While they celebrated their achievements, the students were told their training and learning are far from over.

“Training is a continuous life-learning process, and every day is an opportunity to learn from someone,” Ilana Baltuch, M.D., Emergency Medicine physician with Crozer Health, told the graduates. “Congratulations to all of you – go forward and beyond!”

“Thanks for being our first class,” said Robert (Bubba) Hamilton, Crozer Health’s Simulation Manager. “This is a proud moment for all of us, and I hope you continue learning. It’s been an exciting and wonderful career for me, and I hope it’s the same for all of you.”

Upon passing a cognitive and psychomotor test to be certified by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians, the 10 students will officially be named EMTs with KQT. 

Stacey Wigent, EMS Training Center Director, thanked Hamilton and Crozer Health’s Chief Academic Officer Academic Affairs Dr. William Boyer for their support in making the class successful. 

“This would not have been possible without support from Dr. Boyer and Bubba,” said Stacey Wigent, EMS Training Center Director. “It was truly a team effort and very rewarding, and we were proud to partner with KQT to make this happen.”
